Capability Studies of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)

· Is the gauge built to the latest engineering drawing or math data?

· Is the gauge certified with reference body grid lines?

· Are datum’s and SPC inspection points identified on the Gauge Design?

· Are components properly color coded, painted, or corrosion resistant coated?

· Are components properly identified with detail numbers?

· Are there any burrs, sharp edges or dirt on any surfaces?

· Are the locating pins, check pins, or slide pins functional?

· Are the swing arms or templates functional and safe to use?

· Are the clamps located correctly to the net pads or datum’s?

· Do the SPC ports or transducers have clearance for data collection?

· Are the units of measurement identified and attached to the gauge?

· Certification of all inspection tools are calibrated and traceable?

· Is the gauge or checking fixture in an assembled condition?

· Are net pads, datum surfaces, gauge holes, tooling balls, trim edges and surface tolerances, and flush check complete?

· Are Data Collection bushings, pivot pins, or templates complete?

· Are sight checks, scribe lines, painted trim lines complete?

· Are there identification tags with the latest engineering changes?

· Are there operator instructions attached to the gauge?

· Are the GR & R studies completed and acceptable?

· Does the gauge meet the intent of the gauge design and build materials?

· Has the OEM or Customer reviewed and approved the gauge?
